Contrary to long-standing practices regarding the prescribing and dispensing of controlled substances in long-term care, ongoing DEA actions indicate:- The DEA does not recognize the long-term care nurse as an agent of the prescriber
- The chart order is not recognized as a valid prescription for a controlled substance
This new informational video was created in response to the urgent need to educate long-term care professionals on current controlled substance rules. The video explains DEA rules and provides guidance on common scenarios and questions that long-term care professionals will likely encounter.
