Focus is placed on the Bill of Rights and scenarios about protecting rights such as privacy, confidentiality and others. Both positive and negative examples are compared so as to leave no doubt in the mind of the assistant as to their desired behaviors.

Objectives At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:
  • Briefly explain the Bill of Rights
  • State three reasons why client rights are important
  • State four general areas covered in the Bill of Rights
  • State one possible consequence of violating the rights of a client
  • Describe at least two examples of behaviors that violate clients' rights
  • Explain the concept of patient confidentiality
  • Recognize the correct and incorrect approaches to a patient in regard to concepts covered in the Clients' Right Bill of Rights
